A Guide to Sidcup Town Centre: Shops, Food and the Storyteller
Everything in Sidcup town centre — the High Street and Station Road shops, where to eat and drink, the new Storyteller cinema and library, and how to get there.
Sidcup town centre is arranged around two connected shopping streets in the London Borough of Bexley: the High Street (DA14) and Station Road (DA15). Sidcup railway station sits between the two.
Shopping
The High Street and Station Road carry a mix of chains and independents. A Little Waitrose anchors the High Street, with a larger Morrisons a short walk away off Jenner Close. Value retailers include Poundland, The Works and Card Factory, and there are independent shops on the connecting parades at Elm Parade, St John's Parade, Market Parade and Nisbett Walk — including specialists such as Invicta Model Rail and Sidcup Auction Rooms on Church Road.
Eating and drinking
Sidcup has a wide choice of places to eat. Restaurants range from Italian at Little Florence and Toscana to Vietnamese at Pho 102 and Indian kitchens including Moghul, Jalsha and Curry Mahal. For coffee, independents such as Blackheath Coffee and Brew House sit alongside the usual chains. Pubs and bars include the Hackney Carriage micropub on Station Road, The Hill Top Tap and Ninety Seven Wine & Cocktail Bar.
The Storyteller cinema and Sidcup Library
One of the biggest recent additions to the town centre is The Storyteller, a three-screen cinema on the corner of the High Street and Station Road. As well as the screens it houses a bar, a coffee shop, a community and performance space, and Sidcup Library — bringing the library and a cinema together under one roof.
Getting there and parking
Sidcup railway station is right in the centre of town, on the Dartford loop line, with Southeastern trains to London and out towards Dartford and Gravesend. Several bus routes serve the High Street and Station Road, and there is pay-and-display parking close to the shops.
